Starting Up: Category Maintenance: Editing a category

To edit a category, click on the little pencil icon on the right of the category on the "Income & Expense Categories" page.

You will then be taken to the "Edit Category" page. Your category information will be in the form on that page.

You can simply edit the fields you want to change, and click the save button. If you change the tax rate and want it to apply to existing transactions (i.e., overwrite the tax rate on existing transactions for that category) then be sure to check the "Update Existing Transactions?" checkbox.

Click the "Save" button to save the data. If you don't want to save your changes, click the "Back" link or image.

Congratulations! You have successfully edited a category.

Starting Up: Category Maintenance: Deleting a category

To delete a category, simply click on the cross icon on the right of the category on the "Income & Expense Categories" page.

A box will pop up asking you if you are sure if you want to delete the category. The box may look different on your computer to the image below. The look and feel of the box is decided by your web browser. If you are sure you want to delete the category then click the "OK" button. If you do not want to delete it, then click the "Cancel" button.

NOTE: If there are transactions that are referencing a category then the category CANNOT be deleted. You will have to change the transactions to use a new category so that the category can be removed.

If you clicked "OK", the category will then be deleted.
